Former TNT Singer TONY HARNELL Reveals More Details About Upcoming Acoustic Album

February 2, 2009

Former TNT and current STARBREAKER vocalist Tony Harnell has been busy working on a new acoustic album. The working title of the record is "En Memoria Carinosa", which, in Tony's own words, stands for "in loving memory of the songs from my past." The LP will include reworked versions of Tony's hits with TNT and WESTWORLD, other classic songs and new stuff as well. A tentative summer 2009 release via Frontiers Records is expected.

Commented Harnell: "I've been working on an acoustic tribute to my songs of the past 20-plus years. I took all the fan input into consideration and created an album which I think will, simply put, make people smile. I've reworked everything, sometimes pretty drastically, to bring a fresh approach to all the songs. New keys, tempos, arrangements and overall style. Some are more true to the original than others, but many are quite a departure, in a good way. We're still putting the finishing touches on it. The band was recorded live as were much of the vocals. It's just been a huge delay getting it all together due to personal stuff, but we're getting there and I expect it will come together quickly now. . . The band is my New York-based band which is simply awesome. These are not metal guys, just excellent tasteful musicians. These guys are in-demand New York City dudes who simply know how to play simple and effective. I wanted guys who could help me break these songs down to the essence of the melody and add something new and we did just that. And, of course, Amy is lending her beautiful voice on harmony. More info on this to come soon. And no, this is not my solo album. It will be titled TONY HARNELL AND FRIENDS and will be out on Frontiers sometime this year."

Harnell's final release as a member of TNT was the "Live in Madrid" DVD, which came out in September 2006 via MTM Music. The set, which was filmed on April 1, 2006 in Madrid, Spain, was accompanied by an 82-minute audio CD plus booklet liner notes from Harnell about his work with the group as well as an additional tour documentary by Darren Paltrowitz.

STARBREAKER — the band featuring Tony Harnell, Magnus Karlsson (ALLEN LANDE, PRIMAL FEAR) and John Macaluso (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, TNT, ARK) — released its sophomore album, entitled "Love's Dying Wish", in North America on November 18 through Blistering/Ryko. Issued in Europe on August 1 via Frontiers Records, the follow-up to the group's 2005 self-titled debut was written and produced by Harnell and Karlsson and was mixed by respected producer Tommy Hansen (TNT, JORN).
